Hello,
My name is Ryan Smith. I’m an 18-year-old motorcycle racer with dreams of becoming a motorcycle racing champion. I know with my heart, determination and desire to become the best, along with your help, I will make it happen. This season has been quite a rollercoaster for me. I began my rookie season in SX. I made each of the night shows & Indianapolis main with a top 15 finish, along with allot more knowledge for next season. With SX completed, I jumped into the Pro Ranks of 09’ outdoors with the best of them at FreeStone in Texas. While doing quite well for the 1st couple rounds, I had a mishap while training for Colorado, which has taken me out until the end of July. Now I have gotten back to it, and been training and am ready for the last 4 rounds.
I come from a family of motorcycle racing champions – my grandfather Bob Bailey, raced flat track and road races, my uncle, Gary Bailey, (known as The Professor), was National Champion in Motocross, and my cousin, David Bailey, was National Champion in both 250cc and 500cc classes – they have instilled in me the work ethic and drive that it takes to be a champion.
In order to better focus on my racing, I have completed my education through “On Track”, an online educational program. Before leaving traditional high school to race, I was a member of the U.S. National Honor Society (which requires a minimum GPA of 3.5).
As you know, getting from race to race and maintaining my bikes is not cheap. Fortunately, a number of companies and individuals have believed in me enough to sponsor me with equipment and funds. I’m hoping that with additional sponsors, I can eliminate those mechanical gremlins that pop up from time to time so that I can continue my streak of main events and continue to finish higher and higher, while competing against the best-of-the-best in both Supercross and Motocross in 2010.
My main sponsors have been; Arai Helmets, Scott Goggles, Gary Bailey MX School, EVS Sports,
FTI Suspensions, Liquid Performance, De-Cal Works Graphics, O’Neil, Pirelli Tires and Honda-Suzuki of Lynchburg, VA.
To all of them, I give my undying thanks for all the help this year. I’m hoping that I can find some additional help to assist me in reaching the goals that I have set for myself.
I can be reached on my cell phone at (434) 441-6108 or by email at ryans@tazracing.com.
Sincerely,
Ryan Smith #831
