LOOKING FOR HELP

September 12th, 2007

Dear Friend:

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Ryan Smith. I am sixteen (16) years old, 5’9” tall, I weigh 150 pounds, and am in good health. I am an expert amateur motocross racer. This is my first year as an expert, having moved up from B class in August after Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship, where I placed 7th in the 250 B Stock Class. Since then, I have been racing the AMA Pro AM Eastern Region races in District 7 & District 13, to gain experience to better my racing knowledge. My ambitions are to become a Professional Motorcycle Racer, following in my family legacy. I am the Grandson of Bob Bailey, he along with his brother Gary Bailey, were pioneers in national motorcycle racing. Bob raced Flat Track & Road Races, Gary Bailey was National Champion in Moto Cross and is known as the “Professor”, Gary’s son David was a multi-time National Champion in the 250 & 500 classes. I believe I have the natural ability, training and intelligence, and the drive to be a champion.

Along with being serious about my racing, I am very committed to keeping my education up. I am currently completing my schooling online with Alpha Omega. Before I left the public school system I was inducted into the National Honor Society of the United States. I left Tunstall High School in Danville, VA due to my racing, training and practice routines. With little or no flexibility granted by the school administration, I started home schooling to protect my GPA (3.5), and further both my education and racing career.

Racing has given me the know-how to be competitive, I have been taught by my family to be a good sportsman, as well as how to be a team player. I have learned that maintaining and tuning my bikes, along with teamwork, is what it takes to keep me competitive each week. I am doing all this while having fun at the same time.

My main sponsors are Arai Helmets, Piedmont Motorsports of Bassett VA, Scott Goggles, Full Travel Innovation, Thor Race Wear, Liquid Performance, Triangle Cycles North, Gary Bailey MX School and DC shoes.

Thank you for your consideration and I hope you believe in me & my dreams, as I do

Ryan Smith
