Welcome to Taz Racing

Hello,

Welcome back to my web site. If this is your first time here, thanks for stopping by. I’m Ryan Smith, a 17-year-old motorcycle racer with dreams of becoming a motorcycle racing champion and, I believe, the skills and determination to make it happen. This has been an exciting year for me. I made the move up to the professional ranks. My debut was at the Toronto Supercross, where I took the Holeshot Award in my first race! Since then, I have made it into the main event every time the mechanical gremlins didn’t attack my bike in the prelims. And even when my bike was acting up, I almost made it into the Big Show a couple of times, missing it by only a fraction of a second on a couple of occasions.

I come from a family of motorcycle racing champions – my grandfather, Bob Bailey raced flat track and road races; my uncle, Gary Bailey, (known as The Professor) was National Champion in Motocross; and my cousin, David Bailey, was National Champion in both 250cc and 500cc classes – and they have instilled in me the work ethic and drive that I think it takes to be a champion.

In order to focus on my racing, I am completing my education through Alpha Omega, an online educational program. Before leaving traditional high school to race, I was a member of the U.S. National Honor Society (which requires a minimum GPA of 3.5).

As you know, getting from race to race and maintaining my bike is not cheap. Fortunately, a number of companies and individuals have believed in me enough to sponsor me with equipment and funds. I’m hoping that with additional sponsors, I can eliminate those mechanical gremlins that pop up from time to time so that I can continue my streak of main events and continue to finish higher and higher while competing against the best-of-the-best in both Supercross and Motocross in 2009.

My main sponsors so far have been: Arai Helmets, Scott Goggles, De-Cal Works Graphics, Leech and Hicks Insurance, RXR Protect, Full Travel Innovation, Liquid Performance, Gary Bailey MX School, AXO America, EVS Sports and FMF Racing. To them, I give my undying thanks. If anyone out there wants to sponsor some part of my racing, I would love to hear from you. I can be reached on my cell phone at (434) 441-6108 or by email at ryan@tazracing.com.

Sincerely,
Ryan Smith
